| Frequently Asked Questions for Parents Mornings Out (PMO) & Parents Evening Out (PEO) Programs: 1) How much does it cost? Each session of PMO/PEO is $35 dollars. This includes lunch/dinner and a drink, which you can order as you sign your child in for the day. 2) What are the security protocols? HippoHopp will be closed to the general public during all PMO/PEO programs, therefore reducing any incoming and outgoing traffic to our facility. After children are all checked in, doors will be locked until pick-up time. Children will be released only to the parent/guardian who signed them in. In the event that another parent/guardian must pick them up, there must be written consent from the person who dropped the child off and photo id must be shown in order to verify that person’s identity. Security cameras are in operation throughout HippoHopp and we also have a state-of-the-art alarm system that is monitored and can be used in the case of emergency to contact emergency services. 3) Are background checks conducted on all teachers and other staff members? Yes, all of our PMO/PEO staff members have current background checks on file at HippoHopp. Additionally, all of our staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid. 4) What is the procedure if there is a fire or severe weather? In the case of fire, we will evacuate and call the authorities as soon as possible. All children will be evacuated in an orderly fashion and counted. All parents will be called asap to pick up their children. PMO/PEO will be cancelled in the case of severe weather or the threat of severe weather. Should severe weather become an issue during PMO/PEO, we will follow safety procedures accordingly and contact parents to pick up children as is necessary and cautious. 5) What is the class size? There will be 10-12 kids in any one session of PMO or PEO, with a 1:3 or 1:4 teacher to child ratio. There must be a minimum of 10 children registered in order for the PMO/PEO to take place and there will be a maximum of 12 children allowed. 6) How is a child disciplined? Children will receive verbal warnings and may also receive a “time out” for unruly behavior. No form of spanking or physical discipline will be used at HippoHopp. Parents will be notified if children required reprimanding while in our care. 7) Is the meal provided? Yes, the cost of the session includes a lunch/dinner from our regular café menu selection. Your child’s order will be taken upon check-in. 8) Do the children have play time? Yes, the children will have free-play, directed game activities, lunch/dinner, a quiet or tabletop activity and story time. 9) What are the times of the program? Mother’s Mornings Out will take place every other Monday from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Parents Nights Out will be held every other Friday night from 6pm to 9pm. Children must be dropped off and picked up promptly. For any child who is left in our care for more than 10 minutes after the end-time of the session, a $10 per minute fee will apply to the parent upon pick-up.
